Hi Everyone, I went to Dr. Abkin yesterday for my 3 month post-op check-up and I have lost 80 pounds...OMG this is so hard to believe...it does work...This surgery does work if we follow orders from our Dr.'s. I lost 29 lbs. on Optifast (Dr. ordered in order to have surgery) and the rest since May 17, 2005, the day of my surgery. I guess I am so thrilled because I am not able to be very active due to severe arthritis, fibromyalgia and a rotator cuff injury. I am only able to walk ver short distances with a cane, but I try to do exercises from a chair or bed when I'm able to do so. I have a lot more to lose but 80 pounds is a start right? I would never have been able to do this without the support of all of you. Thank You, thank you, thank you !!!!!! Fran P. (In Jersey) SURGERY DATE: MAY 17, 2005 SUEGEON: DR. ALEXANDER ABKIN, FLORHAM PARK, NEW JERSEY TYPE: RNY/LAP

Timmy, Thanks for your reply. I have been around the board for about 1 year now but due to a injury in my rotator cuff and the arthritis it is difficult to type at times. I will try to make an effort to say a few words more often. I do have a profile although it needs to be updated. Timmy, I am 62 yrs. old but I sure don't feel it since beginning to lose some of these God awful pounds of fat. I am married to my wonderful husband Bill who has been a God send during my journey. I have 2 grown children from my 1st. marriage and Bill has 2 grown children from his 1st marriage. I am a grandmother to 5 little precious gifts and love these little people sooooo much. Due to geographical location I get to see one little guy the most, but love them all !!! My daughter Kristin is going through a divorce and she and my 3 year old grandson, Brendan are currently living with us. What a joy he is, but I sure do know why God does not let us have children at our ages...He is a very good and lovable little guy with LOTS of energy. WLS surgery was the last chance for me to be around for as long as I would like to be. I get impatient at times because I want to wake up tomorrow and be THIN...oh, that's not how it works???? Oh well, guess I'll have to learn some patients and be grateful for what's happening now. I need to stop typing now and put some ice on my shoulder. Thanks again Timmy. Hugs, Fran
