Let them eat cake!
Well, yesterday I had a birthday party for my little one (5 years old!!). She wanted a white cake with white frosting and pink flowers, so as you can imagine, that's exactly what she got. By the way..I know that CAKE is a FOUR LETTER WORD, but BJ's sells wonderful cakes, if you ever have to throw a party!
Anyway, I had a piece. A modest, small piece. It was wonderful. I had no reaction to it. No dumping or anything. I wouldn't take more, or have a "bigger piece next time" or anything, but it was a nice treat. I can't say I have missed it, because I am not really a "sweets" eater. My devil was always the doughy foods.. thick crusted pizza, etc.. which, now, I can't even enjoy. They don't bother my stomach, or get "Stuck" or anything, I just don't enjoy them anymore. Ugh. That's sort of a mourning process in itself. Those foods which have been faithful to me for so long, are not really a part of my life anymore. Et tu, Zeppole??
So, anyway, I thought I would share my "cake" experience with you all. The occasional treat is not what got us into the shape we are in. I think trying to live realistically is best. There WILL be birthdays, there WILL be parties. As long as every meal is not eaten like it's our last (*like I used to!!) I think we'll all be A.O.K.
Enjoy life!!!

'Good morning Rossana !
Your absolutely correct. Sometimes having a very small piece of stuff like that is not only okay.. but a good thing.. its worth it to be able to participate in life events etc : )
Sugar free deserts if at all possible.. but when not.. then sure a single small piece is okay : ) I can eat a small piece like that.. but then I have to wait an HOUR before drinking ... because I simply dont eat bread or cereals.. and when I do.. I have to wait longer to drink.
Sounds like you are doing SUPER. !
Keep up the good work

Hi Rossana! After I read your post, I proclaimed out loud "so true, so true"!!!
I have yet to have my surgery, which is scheduled for 8/29, but I know EXACTLY what you mean when you say "as long as every meal is not eaten like it's our last"...you'd think I would have been gone YEAAAARRRRRRSSSSS ago with the way I've been out of control sometimes!
But that's soon to change, and this kind of change is a good change!
Thanks for the advice! Take care!
Wendy
