ok look, i've only lost about 60 pounds so far. why? it's alittle depressing. i think this is it for me. it seems like everything i read says that people have lost 100 pounds. so why not me? boo hoo. just wanted to whine alittle. i know, i know, better to lose slow but i haven't lost anything in about 3 months. i haven't gained but i haven't lost. i'm stuck. thanks for reading. sue

Hi Susan, I checked your profile and didn't get much information to be able to help you. One of the things that I see in your profile is that you mention (down at the bottom where you're writing about insurance approval) is that you were 112 lbs overweight. If you only have 112 lbs to lose, then having taken off 60 lbs so far is not bad. When I was 8 months out, I had taken off 98. But I was about 178 lbs. overweight. When you compare our weight loss on a percentage basis, we are VERY close. By 8 months I had lost 58% of my excess weight. You've lost 53% You will hear of the "window of weightloss" being 18 months. I don't believe it holds true for everyone, but you are nowhere near the end of your weightloss "window". How you do, can in at least some part be determined by you. I would urge you to take stock of the things that are within your control and see if you can change things around to effect a little more weightloss. This is only a tool. We have to do our part, and only you know what's going on in your life or day. A few quick thoughts: Are you eating enough protein/cals? Too little and your body will go into starvation mode and fight you for every pound. Are you eating too much? Even if it's the right kinds of food, if you're eating too much of it, you will slow down your weight loss. What abou****er? Exercise? I just recently had to evaluate what I'm doing wrong because I still have about 45lbs that I want to lose. I've found for me that it's a little too much grazing and eating the wrong foods. I'm working to change this, while I'm adding a little more exercise. irene

Hello Irene.. welcome ! I enjoyed your post, you sound like you have the program *down cold*. Your positive good cheer and upbeat spirit are appreciated : ) Have you every participated in one of the live chats here on Obesity Help? Its a neat way to get to know a few people at a time, in real time. We are having one this weekend on Saturday. Live chat Saturday evening @ 8pm. I hope you can attend.. let me know if you have difficulty accessing the chat room? It should be a fun time for all.. hope you can come : ) Timmy Ray

Hello Susan Well... the big four are... Protein.. first and foremost.. for a woman about 70 grams a day minimum Vitamins... make sure you are getting enough Exercise.. move somehow.. every day? Walk, swim.. whatever works and Water.. drink as close to a gallon a day as you can. Eat little meals.. six at least a day... make sure you chew well.. eat every 2-3 hours if you can... If not losing... try altering one of the big four. Try.. More protein... and if that doesnt work.. more exercise.? Ask your surgeon.. see what they say? I dunno.. your surgery was two weeks before mine. If you dont get enough of one of the big four .. your weight loss will *CEASE*.. when my protein dipped.. and when I got depressed... and didnt move or get any exercise... my weight loss stopped entirely. Good luck and godspeed.. let us know if it starts again. Hang in there Timmy Ray

WOW if I were you I think I would be depressed too. I am only 1 month out and I already lost 33 lbs. I think at the rate I am going I will be down 100 lbs by New Years. I hope you get back on track. Are you working out (walking, excercising, eating right?) Those things are important WLS is a tool, it cannot work if you do not modify your lifestyle to support it. I will start my excercise regiment at 2 months out. I already joined Lucille Roberts. In addition since my surger on 7/26 I have started walking 2 miles per day. Vette
