?? about Dr Abkin

Hi everyone, I'm planning on having wls surgery with Dr Abkin. I was hoping to hear from some of his patients. I've heard good things about him so far. I was also wondering how long it took after the initial consult to actually get to your surgery date. I've been contemplating wls for years and have finally decided it's time to go ahead with it. Dr. Abkin is my surgeon and I think he's great! As for the surgery date, it depends on how long it takes for you to get all your pre-op stuff done, and your insurance company.

He is also my surgeon...Very nice man...I went for my consult with him and got scheduled right there....pendin i get my psy and nutrition done...which are already in the makin....so 9-26-05 was my given day...hope all works out for u...

Dear Carol - In my opinion - Dr. Abkin is THE BEST!!! Both my husband and I had RNY by him. He is very kind, caring and understanding. He knows what he is doing and is very professional. He was a "life saver" when my husband had to have emergency surgery 2 weeks ago when we were on vacation 700 miles from home. Please read my profile - especially the last entry. Hi Timmy! Nice to "meet" you! Thanks for the kind words and prayers. Phil gets a little better each day. We go to see Dr. Abkin for my 6 month, and Phil's 1 yr check-up on Thursday, 8/25. Hi Carol. I visited Dr. Abkin on 8/11 and scheduled my surgery date right after we were done talking. By this point, I had my blood work done only. After I met with him, I saw the nutritionist and psychiatrist. I am now waiting for a letter from my doctor in favor of me geting the surgery so that I can submit it to the insurance.

Sorry to post so late to you. but I wanted to see what others would say.. I really liked dr abkin.. I didn't use him though.. I really wanted to originally. My insurance was a little tough to get through and his office staff offered no assistance.. Like I said the dr's great but the office staff left me feelling on my own.. Good Luck.
