My lap took one hour and 15 minutes from the time I went into the OR to the time I was in recovery. The recovery time is less with lap I think. If I had to be opened I don't know that I would have done it. The doc's that you are going to don't do open unless it is emergent I believe.

I had lap rny 1 week ago today and the whole procedure took about 90 minutes. I had no pain(never used my pca pump)and only a little soreness at the incision sites. This may not be the norm but lap was great for me

Well, whomever said ti took all those hours, was misinformed. I had lap RNY on June 13th. That was a Monday. I was back to work that Saturday. My sister in law had open RNY and was out of work for almost 3 months. Any questions??
