Hello All- I am now 6 days post op and feeling great.Would like to jump right in to a support group or 2 but am having trouble finding any near where I live- I live in Browns Mills, NJ near Fort Dix Army Base and McGuire AFB. Does anyone have any support group listings or know of any support groups that might not be advertised yet? I am really hoping to keep my drive under an hr and it would be great to find one around here as I don't see myself going to my Doc's support group meetings in Philly all the time. Appreciate any assistance you can give me Peace, luv and Korn Laura Blankenship

I am in Mt. Holly and would also be interested in a local group. It is my understanding that most centers won't let you participate if you had your surgery done elsewhere. Mine was done at Pennsylvannia Hospital.

Hi Holly The Toms River group is a really relaxed, supportive good group. I have been to one meeting, and really felt welcome. I posted elsewhere on this thread, but I will post the information below also. I live in Jackson, which is about 20 miles away, on a friday its more like 35 or 40 minutes with traffic hehehehe. Anyhow.. I hope you will consider the Toms River Group, it meets the first FRIDAY of every month. Timmy Ray PS the info can be found in other posts, but we meet on the first FRIDAY of every month... AT: Community Medical Center, Auditorium A, Toms River, from 7pm to 9pm.

Hi Laura I am a *new member* (one meeting) of the Toms River group, and so far its been awesome. Its a small to fair sized group., the night I went it was like... 11 or 12 people? Its relaxed, very informal and everyone is VERY friendly. I felt like I knew some of these people for years, and I was very comfortable. I have been out of surgery post op for going on 8 months now, and I found that there were people who had **just** had surgery, one lady literally was 4 days out of surgery and was there... to people with a year or more in. So there was a wide range. We will be having speakers at some of the meetings, to speak on WLS issues and such... the September meeting is supposed to be a good one, I dont think we have a speaker lined up but that might change... I am just a newbie : ))) I hope you will consider attending, it is an excellent group. Timmy Ray PS the info can be found in other posts, but we meet on the first FRIDAY of every month... AT: Community Medical Center, Auditorium A, Toms River, from 7pm to 9pm.
