congrats!! I am in the process of getting insurance approval for the band. i live in nj too. which doc did u go to? u should go to the band message board too there is alot of info on there. i hope u find all the answers and good luck with everything. i would be interested in hearing about ur experience if ud like to email me. thx

I went to Dc Karl Strom in MOntclair Hospital in Bloomfield. He and his staff were wonderful . I have no complaints . Even the hospital staff was great. I don't know if you are close to the bloomfield area . you can contact me directly [email protected]

Congrats on being banded!!!!
I was banded on June 1st. There is a Lap Band message board on this site that is great. I have learned alot and the other Bandsters are so much help. I have done great the last 8 weeks. I have lost 25 pounds so far. I was not on a pre-op diet. I was on a liquid diet for a week and then mushies/pureed food for 5 weeks. I had my first fill on July 12. I can't wait until my next fill. I hear that you need 3-5 fills for proper restriction.
The first few weeks were ok. Things got easier each day. I am still trying to change the way I think about food. I have spent 30 years overeating or eating wrong. It's going to take a while to "retrain" my brain.
I am happy about the weight I have lost and hope to stick with the goal of 1-2 pounds a week.

Thanks Joan, You are so right . After so many year of overeating , now the brain and the body are at " war" and hopefully we will be able to get both of them in line under one command : ourselves.
Sometimes all I think about is food even in my sleep but I am getting better every day. I am on the puree diet right now and It is not that bad. I think I lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks but I am going to check at the doctor's on Monday .
What kind of exercising are you doing ? I am not right now because I need to reschedule a lot so accomodate my new eating habits.
