Drainage?
Hi Bea!
The drainage thing was the pits at first but, I finally got used to it. Wasn't easy..... I had to wear a small dressing with Neosporin ointment on it, then a pad [I used Serenity ones] then a small towel and then my binder...... that's how much there was! Eventually it will slow, but areas will reopen from time to time until your body is healed inside.
My surgeon's Nurse practitioner said that it was fat melting away inside. Icky thought and I thought the smell was enough to gag a maggot, but I was losing inches and pounds like crazy, so I kinda went with the flow..... no pun intended!!!
I wore whatever clothes I wanted to, went where I wanted and pretty much did what I wanted... no sit-ups or pool tho. As the drainage lessened, I was able to use smaller pieces of towels and half pads under the binder. The binder helps support your healing abdomen by the way.
Three weeks ago it was a minimal amount of drainage where I could use only a small sterile dressing and tape! It stopped three weeks ago and hasn't come back! Hooray! I could actually wear a size smaller waist clothing without all of the dressings. Just be sure to keep the area clean and change your dressings frequently during the day and you'll be fine!
It's just a tiny bump in the road to a new, thinner, healthier you!!!!
Hope this helps!
Hugs!

Bea,
I had no problems with drainage.. I guess every surgeon does it differently.
In the hospital I had a jaxson prat that was sort like a catherter that the nurse emptied every so often. then when I came home I had to keep that area bandaged and it drained for a short while longer but not like gallons just like as if my knee was skinned. nothing that required any really medical attention other than cleaning and patching up.
Don't stress over the drain.. it really is no big deal...
