I lost 17lbs prior to the surgery this was recommended by my surgeon because it would shrink the liver and it would not get in the way. The 17lbs helped me a lot as per the doc. I suggest just a simple cut down and walking would be OK.

Anything low carb/high protein is great. South Beach is a good recommendation since it works with "good carbs" like dairy and vegetables. From my research I have found post-surgery most people really limit their overall carbs and either eliminate or have a strict limit on "sugary" carbs like sweets and white starches (potatoes, breads, rice). I too am trying to pre-diet and have to admit - giving up those carbs has been HARD!! Good luck! Holly
