I haven't logged on in a few days and when I did I saw that things have been seriously slow. Not many postings, so I thought I would just post a little info on me. I had my surgery 5/25/05-did extreamly well, no drama or problems. So far I've lost 35-37 pounds. HAPPY DANCE!! I have lot's of energy and am very excited about the future. My main reason for having this surgery was the fact I have a beautiful little girl who is two. I want to be a better, more healthy mom. I want to play and ride the rides with her...she is like a little ball of sunshine and deserves me to be at my best! By having the surgery I seem to have lost my best friend? She also considered gastric bypass and did not have it. She is also very heavy and now she is feeling even worse about herself. I think this will pass but being 4.5 weeks post op it sure sould be nice to have her to talk to? Well I have babbled enough and I hope everyone is doing well! Shaun

Hey Shaun, I, like you, am doing great! I had surgery 5/2/05, and I've lost 42 pounds to date. No complications, and life is good. I am Mom to a 5 year old, and it feels good to know that my quality of life is going to get better. I'm sorry to hear about your best friend, have you discussed how you feel with her, in all honestly she might be a little jealous. I speak from first hand experience, because one of my closest friends had surgery 8 months before me, and I was jealous, but then I decided to take control of my life, and here I am. If you ever wanna chat, I'm always around. Good Luck and Congrats!!!!!!!!!! Aliya

Aliya, I was glad to see someone posting from Somerville, I am from Somerville, and I am considering the WLS very seriously, may I ask where did you have it done? Would you recommend the doctor? How long did it take for all the paper work to get completed after you decided to go forth? I am hoping and praying to have this done by September, but I haven't started yet. I do have an appt. with my PCP on July 8th to discuss it, but I would like to go in there with all of my research, so he will know I am serious! Feel free to email me at mommalove @ att.net And Congrats to you!!!!

Bea, I would scream Dr. Ward's name from the roof tops. Somerset Medical Center also. Research is imperative. I'm actually doing more research post of than pre op. The more you know...It took approx 6 weeks from initial consult to surgery date.
