Are there currently any support meetings in central NJ (preferably Monmouth County)? If there are enough interested, maybe we could start one??

There is a regular meeting held by Dr Borao out of Monmouth Medical Center. I don't have the schedule, but you could find out from Dr Borao's office. He doesn't limit it to just his patients and it is open to everyone. There is also a regular meeting in Ocean County held the first Friday of each month geared to just post op patients. This meeting is now moving to Community Medical Center, in Toms River in Auditorium A starting July 1st. E-mail me if you need any further info on this one.

Hello Betsy : ) My name is Tim Sytsma, and I am post Op six months. I met my wife, Sandi, on one of the boards here on Obesity help, she is also post op about 17 months. I just moved here recently to get married and will be going to school at Monmouth, hopefully, this fall. I too am interested in a support ggroup in person to attend... we are in Ocean county, near Jackson, but I think where you are located is not that far (still learning the area..sorry) Please let me know of any info that you find out?? I do see the post below from the nice lady from Toms River.... but any other information you learn please share here? Nice to meet you.. have a super day Timmy Ray

There is also one out of CentraState Hospital in Freehold. My best friend is actually the Director of Nursing there for nutrition and health. There is a yearly fee if you don't have the surgery there, I think $250 or a little less. I heard that the Monmouth Med. bariatric program was shutting down from my PCP. I live in Red Bank. I plan on attending my surgeons support group which is at 6:30pm in Basking Ridge. But I would welcome joining or creating a group in Monmouth County. The key is to get guest nutritionists and other experts to join us every once in a while. Hope to hear from you...a walking group would be great too! Maybe on weeknights after we get off work? I am scheduled for surgery on 7/19.
