Re: I'm Home
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let you all know that I'm home. I had my surgery on Tuesday, May 17th. and I got home on Monday, May 23rd. The Gastric Bypass went beautifully...NO PROBLEMS...
A nurse started an IV in the Basilic Vein (not the best place for this). The IV infiltrated and then another nurse gave me medication in this IV and flushed it with saline and as a direct result of this IV, I got a blood clot in my arm. Swelling, no feeling in my hand and fingers. VERY, VERY FRIGHTENING...could have traveled and/or I could have lost my arm. Thanks to my wonderful Dr. Abkin, an on the ball nurse, Allison and God it seems that it was caught in time.
I am not in pain from the surgery a slight bit of discomfort in the left side at times, but I am a bit nauseaous and had some very loose stools. I took an Immodium and am praying that will do it. I am having a hard time getting in the protein due to the nausea, any suggestions?
Please continue to keep me in your prayers and thanks for all your support.
I am very tired so I will write again at another time.
Love and Hugs,
Fran (In Jersey)
Fran:
Glad that you're home.
As far as the protein, you're only a week out so try to get in as much as you are able. No one is expecting you to get in 60 grams at one week. I know i couldn't. As you heal you'll be able to get more protein in so don't worry about it so much right now. Just do the best you can.

So glad you're home and that everything went relatively well!
I wouldn't worry too much about the protein; get in what you can. I would concentrate more on fluids - I think it would be worse to become dehydrated. There are some protein supplements you can add to liquids...I use GNC's Protein Concentrate (tastes like nasty sour fruit punch, but hey - it's better than the gaggy "chocolate" things - lol)
Remember I'm a neighbor, so if I can run an errand or drop anything off for you, let me know!
