Wife Is Doing A Lot Better
Hi Everyone:
First, thank you to everyone for showing your concern for my wife Joanna. She is doing much better and is in good hands at St. Barnabas Medical Center. Some of you may know that she has end stage kidney failure and that she has been on daiysis for some time while waiting for a kidney.
In recent months, she has been getting worse and her doctor (who does not believe in transplants, BTW is the same doctor who did not want me to have WLS) has been giving her ha lot of medication without trying to solve some of the complications she has encountered.
In a true twist of fate, it was her insurance company *****commended that I take her to St. Barnabas which I did Thursday night when she was having trouble breathing and her chest was tight. The kidney specialist and the cardiologist teamed up and is getting her back on the road to good health. They saw the list of medications she was taking and they were puzzled as to why she was taking all this stuff. They immediately took her off most of the stuff and today, for the first time in a long time, saw my wife smile. She is still a long way from being the Joanna I fell in love with and married but today I saw signs of Joanna comming back.
She will begin undergoing tests on Monday. Her doctors have assured us that she will regain her strength and her body will get to a position that she will be able to tollerate a transplant operation. The way her "former" doctor (he will know on Monday that he is out of the picture in no uncertain terms from me) had her , she would not have been able to survive a transplant even if a kidney was available.
I guess I've been a little long but Joanna and I just wanted to thank you all for your prayers and concern. I will keep you posted.
Till next time,
Jesse

Jesse, I'm so glad that things are being sorted out for Joanna. It's a shame that she had to go so long getting the wrong treatment. It must be very encouraging to have a new and optimistic plan of action.
I will continue to keep you and Joanna in my prayers.
Hugs,
Nancy

Jesse, glad things are doing better for you and especially for Joanna. I found out a long time ago that just because someone is a Dr (and you assume they know best!) that is not always the case. Glad you found other medical professionals to help you in this situation and going forward. Keep us posted.
You are always such a source of support for those of us here in the Jersey board -- we will be here for you!
Hugs,
Nannette
