Dr. Nusbaum question
Hi all,
My surgery is scheduled for 12/7/04. Can anyone tell me how long I'll be on clear liquids and then what kind of diet progression Dr. Nusbaum likes his patients to do? I've seen people still on pureed 12 weeks out and then I've seen people eating almost normally, except for portion size, 6 weeks out. Thanks for any info.
Happy thoughts,
Kathy
Sharon,
Thanks so much for your answer. Can I ask, how much weight have you lost? I'm getting excited about my surgery date and I have all my pre-op clearances scheduled. Any and all advice you have for me would be greatly appreciated. Also, I've read a couple times on the boards about a support group for Dr. Nusbaum's patients....Nussies? Is there a website for this? Thanks alot,
Kathy
The only advice I can really give is ask him to put a pillow under your back, I forgot & my back killed me for days. I also didn't love the hospital. But he was great
I joined the nussies through here on the board & get e-mail from them. Actually they are planning a get-together soon.
I have lost about 74ish pds. It is harder fro me because I am one of those people that can eat more & it freaks me out. Some people only eat 2 bites & they are full. NOT ME
Bring a pillow to put on your belly on the way home from the hospital.

I too had my surgery with Dr. Nusbaum in July 2004. He really is a nice doc. My husband wasnt too thrilled with the hospital staff, but I actually liked them. I was on clear liquids for about 6 days, and then he moved me to soft foods (eggs, s/f f/f pudding, pureed foods etc), for about a week. Then gradually increasing.. on my first week follow up they gave me a handout explaining all this in detail, they will also provide you with information before you leave the hospital. I am now 15 weeks post op and down about 74lbs.
