Sept 9 surgery date
Hello to everyone and have a good holiday this weekend...I'm so happy to be getting this over on Thursday. Pray for me and hope I make it back to tell everyone of my experience. I have prepared my mind and understand the pitfalls with this step...I am in great healtht...overweight at 265 at 5'6..but healthy. I am worry about my weight lost..for some reason I feel that it will be slow and no one will notice the difference when I go back to work in a month. Will I see it? and will my co-workers see it? Can anyone answer that for me please.
THANKS
I would pack comfortable sweats and a tee shirt because you have to walk alot, usually around the nurse's station. Be sure to check out there beautiful garden you can sit out there and get some fresh air. They supply you with shampoo and other toileties but I like my own stuff.
You really dont need much because the first day you walk around in you hospital gown second day you can take shower and walk around in sweats. So dont over pack your not there long and really dont need anything other then shampoo, toothbrush, and comfortable outfit.
Hi Wendy
Greetings from the NY Board. My surgery is scheduled for 9/20, however I know some people who have lost up to 47 lbs 4 weeks after surgery. If you do everything instructed by your doctor, the weight should come off. I'm quite sure when you go back to work in 4 weeks, people will see a difference. Wishing you all the best. My thoughts are prayers are with you for a healthy and speedy recovery.
God bless you.
I had the same fears. I truly thought like "what if I lost like 100 lbs and nobody could tell". I was just driving myself crazy.
I had my surgery on 6-18 and have lost about 63 lbs.
I have not been back to work yet, due to my open incision but I'm finally going back on the 13th. My suggestion to you is when you are ready to go back to work go buy yourself one or two outfits (not too many cause they will be too big soon). But get something new that shows how much better you look. Good luck on the 9th. You will do wonderfully.
I'll save you a seat on the losers bench.
Leigh...Thanks for the encouragment...and your so right about driving oneself crazy ...first it was getting the approval..and when I got that...then this new worry starts...does it ever end.
I'm glad to hear your going back to work and you have recover from your incision. Good luck on the first day back...make sure you let us know how you made out.
Hey neighbor in Elizabeth NJ , I am taking everyones advice and I will make sure I follow my dr's plan. I am trying not to measure myself against others..but it is so hard not knowing whats goingto be of me after 2 weeks after the operation. I am keeping a positive attitude thanks to emails like your and the others who have been there..done that and willing to share your experience with others like me.
Will keep you inform...
