Psych consult - any recommendations?

My insurance won't cover my psych consult so I am looking for a psychiatrist or psychologist in the area who might do the consult. I have a list from my surgeon, but they all charge $300 or more! This is going to be out of pocket, so I'd appreciate anyone's input if they had someone who didn't charge as much. It can't be a social worker - must be Ph.D. Thanks!

If your insurance plan REQUIRES this for approval, then they have to pay for it. If it's the surgeon that requires it, and not your insurance, explain that it isn't required for approval and see if your surgeon would be willing to skip that, or accept a report from a social worker. irene
