lapband or bypass
I had lap band March 8 and i am down 30 lbs. The first 14 came off the first 10 days during the healing time so I am losing at a rate of about 8 lbs a month. I LOVE MY BAND and I made the right choice for me. It is a very personal choice. My best friend had by pass in Feb and is down 63 lbs........they both work it just depends what you want. I am not in a big hurry to lose and with my light skin and being 52 years old I was afraid that my skin could not handle quick loss without making me age alot. My goal is about 70 lbs total and I am just thrilled that I have a weight loss tool that works. Hopefully around Christmas time I will be near goal. The band is only a tool.......you still have to make healthy food choices and if you choose things like ice cream or shakes you will not lose........those types of food go right through the band. By-pass has the malabsorbtion issue but you lose much faster and that is the best thing for some people who have health problems & need to lose at a faster rate. With the band you still have to choose not to eat sugar when most by-pass folks cannot eat sugar at all. With banding it is up to you how much weight you lose in the long run ..with by-pass I was told by my DR that you DO lose 100 lbs. So you see it is up to you..........I just think that it is WONDERFUL that we have these two wonderful procedures to choose from. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY.
There's only one reason I chose bypass over the band . . . my insatiable sweet tooth. I just knew in my heart of hearts that with the band, which permits you to consume sugar, I'd find a way to defeat it. Bypass keeps me honest, if I eat sugar I know I'll be sick. Good luck with whatever you decide on.
