pre- op testing
I am curious as to how far in advance preop testing is done. They said a month in advance.Did that hold true? or was it really a matter of days before surgery, I have to get aletter of medical clearance from my pcp. Did anyone use Dr. Treivedi? Is there a ton of pain after?. I am so excited but scared. My surgery date is june 16. I also am getting nervous if this will really work. I have failed soooo many times before. Thanks for any input.
Hello Andrea , My preop testing at the hospital was done like 3 weeks before my surgery date. I totoally forgot about the letter from my pcp and was rushing around at the last minute to try to get it and they said i needed to make a appt at the dr's to be seen to get the letter it wasn't something i could just call and request. I didn't use Dr. Treivedi, and every Dr. seems to do things differently. There is some pain but it is not unbearable actually i thought there was going to be more pain then there actually was. Just be sure, as much as you just wanna lay in bed and sleep, you get up and get walking as soon as you can, it does help you to feel better. I was the same as you excited and scared, i think those are normal emotions for everyone going through this. And i like you have tried and failed sooo many times before this and was thinking am i going to go through this and be the only one who it doesn't work for. But i just went to my 3 week post opt Dr's appt and i was thinking as i went in there that i probably didn't loose any weight, because i didn't really do much walking ( it rained just about everyday since i was home from the hospital). But i lost 37 lbs, in 3 weeks. So it is working, and now the sun has finally come out and i am able to go for walks so i can't wait to see what i drop next time. If you follow your Dr's instructions it will work for you Andrea, it is a total lifestyle change and it is a lot to adjust to, but if it is working for me then im sure it will work for you. You will be in my prayers, good luck with everything Andrea.
Hi Andrea,
I had Dr. Trevedi, and he is wonderful, A lilttle bit more conservative than his associate Dr. Schmidt, which i think is a good thing.....yes his office does things within the 30 days of surgery, because i live further away than most of his patients, my PCP sent me for all of my pre- admission testing, that might be something you want to do, the chest X-ray results will take approx. 3 days, so make sure you do not cut it to close on time, then your PCP will fax everything over to Trevedi's office.
As far as pain goes, i didn't have any PAIN, just discomfort, the biggest cut was on the left side and the drain was on the right side, so sleeping isn't really going to be great until you get home,i did not take the morphine in the hosp, and i didn't get the percaset filled either, so dont make yourself crazy over worring about the pain. worry about getting up and walking the halls of the hospital, that is most important.
i had my surgery 8 weeks ago and i am down 55 lbs.
if you have any questions, e-mail me at [email protected]
good luck
