Hi! After facing the fact that insurance is unlikely to cover me in NJ, I'm scheduled for gastric sleeve surgery in Mexico on may 21. I'm trying to connect myself into folks that can support me back in NJ since my surgeon will be out of the country. Anyone have recommendations for local nutritionists, therapists, and support groups. If near the Princeton, New Brunswick, or Hamilton areas, even better! Most interested in nutritionists at the moment. Did you use one, and was it helpful? Thanks!

Here is some useful "starting points" help you:

Bariatric Doctors http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/NJ/a,doclisting/type,46/

Nutritionists: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/NJ/a,list/type,1/

Psychiatrists http://www.obesityhelp.com/find/psychiatrist/NJ/

Psychologists http://www.obesityhelp.com/find/psychologist/NJ/

As for Support Groups, if you send me a personal message I can send you a list I created. It may have some OLD information, but it's a starting point.

Off the top of my head: New Brunswick is Saint Peters (every 2nd Thursday of the Month), and contact OH member Krissy for more information concerning Mehta Bariatric Center support group.

Check this page for more suggestions. Here is one I just found:

Ocean County Weight Loss Support Group (OCWLS) Toms River: Meets First Friday of Each Month 7-9 p.m. Community Medical Center – Auditorium A Hospital Drive & Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ

Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

I see John Boch(Nutritionist). He's the absolute best and is caring and rates very reasonable if you are not covered by your insurance. He makes you feel very comfy and is very down to earth. Look him uph is office is in Hamilton, NJ. You wont be disappointed.
