I'm having revision surgery with Dr. Greenbaum next year.  I'm wondering what everyone's opinions are regarding Lourdes.  I love Dr. Greenbaum, but wish he used another hospital.

I agree!  But it wasn't so bad.  In fact, I felt like we got a little extra attention being a Dr. G patient.

The hospital is old, and maybe a little run down in spots, but I had my own room, and the nurses were pretty good and rather attentive, as opposed to my stay at University of Penn when I got my Lap Band, where the nurses were rude and I was made to feel like a big-fat baby!

So all in all, it wasn't a bad experience, until I went to the emergency room in the middle of the night, and I waited over 5 hours for no reason.  I should have waited and seen Dr. G the next day!

Good luck!

Thanks Annie.  My original surgery was at HUP with Noel Williams.  I had really good nurses.  They were busy, but they were attentive.

It wasn't terrible, I'm glad I had someone there with me to walk with but the nursing staff will assist you. A few nurses that I had at night pissed me off because they didn't have any manners or bedside manner. The two that I had coming out of the O.R. and in my semi-permanent room were great(Tamara & Mary). Good luck!

Thanks!  I'll be sure to have some vocal, but nice family members around.  My poor husband I think is a bit too easy going.  Sometimes you need someone to be more firm when you're not able to do it yourself.

I agree! My mom advocated for me to no end, she did what I'd do if she were in the Hospital.  I understand that they're busy but i'm not there for free & even if I were they shouldn't mistreat or ignore patients.

You'll be fine, especially with those "vocal, but nice family" there with you!

I had my surgery thier not with Dr. G but with Dr. Ing who is not with the practice anymore and did not have any problems. The staff was great.

Thanks.  I stated getting really concerned because the hospital has a poor rating on healthgrades.com but I don't know where that date comes from or how reliable.  I think the care you get really depends on the nurses and whether or not you have an advocate. My husband has said he'll make sure I'm taken care of and I plan to speak with Dr. Greenbaum ahead of time regarding my concerns.

Hi Jersey Girl,
So it looks like Dr. Greenbaum is doing DS revisions again? I have an appointment with him on the 29th and hope to move forward from there. I had RNY in 2005 and went from 250 to 128, I did pretty well for 4 years but now my weight has creeped back up to 180. I'm hoping that we can move a little quickly with this. I originally had Aetna when I had my first surgery, and compled with all the 6 months of nutrition and everything else they required. I now have Horizon Blue Cross.
O originally went back to the surgeon who did the first surgery, and he reccomended the Rose procedure, went on and on about it, said there would be no problem with getting it approved. When all was said and done and they denied the Rose and the office staf was no help, they just reccomended I self pay, I really started reading about the Rose and in hindsight I's so glad it was denied!  So I am so looking forward to this next phase and cannot wait to meet with him.
