Long - xpost: 5 K Race Report
that is so awesome, you made me cry reading it. I am doing the Avon 2 day Breast Cancer walk this weekend and am worried that I wont be able to finish.. I am going to try to remember your 5k run story this weekend when the urge to stop kicks in (lets face it will at some point, the walk is 39.6 miles over the two days).
Thank you very much for sharing.
Stella
Thank you for your comment.
I have every faith that you will be able to fini**** For one thing, you will be very motivated by the people around you, and the tide will help carry you along. For another, I believe, that (like me) you are stronger and more capable than you give yourself credit for. You never know what you can do until you put yourself to the test.
Go into it with the most positive of attitudes. Don't even consider not finishing as an option. Determination is so important, and if the mind believes strongly enough, the body will follow.
And by the way, I have heard amazing things about the BC walk and anyone that has ever done it looks upon it as a life-changing experience. I'm very excited for you, and look forward to hearing about it after you cross the finish line.

Linda,
I thought of you when I was at mile 18 on day one and I didn't stop.. I did however stop at mile 21.8 my legs turned to lead and I knew i had to walk the next day so I took the sweep van and rested till the next day. I did do the full day on day 2, 13.3 miles so thank you for replying back to me. I really don't know if I would have pushed past mile 18 if I had not thought about your comments.
I am crazy enough to have signed up for next year, so maybe then I will be able to do the whole thing.
Thank you again!
Stella
PS, I dont know how to get pics on a post so I didnt even try, I am running out to work (im late) so I have two up on my website but will try to put more up later

Thanks, sorry it has taken me so long to write back. i had such a long week trying to catch up from missing a weekend of normal life plus getting my body back to normal. .
It was so great!! I am doing it again next year, I signed up before I went home on Sunday. I really really want to have a team for next year so I hope that others from our world will join me. It was so amazing to see all the people there that were walking for the same cause and working together~ actually helping each other. Saturday was the long day, we walked all over and the coolest part was going over the Brooklyn bridge, the worst part was going over the Manhattan bridge.. Sunday was cool cause it seemed so much easier since your body was already pissed and letting you know it that there was not the fear of the pain. The closing ceremonies were very moving and emotional, I think some of the emotion was due to the physical exhaustion but it was good..
Next year I want to do the whole 39 miles, I had intended to do all 39 this year but just couldn't do it. I pushed too hard in the am ~ I didn't eat, drink or stop enough early in the day so my body couldn't get me to the end.
I hope you join me for next year!
Thanks,
Stella
