It is illegal for a driver anywhere in the state of New Jersey to pass another vehicle unless he gives "audible warning with his horn or other warning device" first.

OK, I KNOW for a fact Bergen County drivers are extrememly compliant with this rule!!!

Well since I don't know if the person driving is "hearing impaired" I always give a nice "hand gesture" when I pass someone - just to be polite of course

(snort)   Yep, I have also 'signaled' with my hand when passing someone!  I call it 'interactive driving' and feel it's a necessary skill in NJ!
