I can't offer MUCH help here... However, I've heard good things about Asbury Park being built up with some nice restaurants. I don't know if you'll find any diner-style as per the usual. I do know there's an Old Man Raffertys (just like the one we went to in New Brunswick). I have a bunch of friends down that way if you need me to talk with them... Also, there's Pier Village in Long Branch but I don't know if the restaurants are too pricey. Personally? I've always wanted to go to Surf Taco!
