Hi I'm Alisa. I'm 29 from Monmouth Junction NJ. I had gastric bypass February 11th,2010. I was 486 pounds the day i left the hospital and this morning I weighed in at 183 pounds. Today I had a Chobani Greek yogurt for breakfast. chicken and bowtie soup for lunch a Quaker fiber and omega 3 bar for a snack and a small piece of marinated chicken breast for dinner. I also had a teacup of organic fat free milk. I don't really set goals at first it was just "get out of the 400's forever" then the 300's and so on. now i'm working towards 150. So i have 33 pounds to go. I do exercise. I joined the gym easter weekend. its overwhelming having never exercised before but i'm signing up with a personal trainer. also on saturday and sunday I'm doing the Relay for Life Walk which benefits the American Cancer Society. i lost my dad to lung cancer in July 2009. He was my biggest cheerleader. Its hard succeeded so much with my weight loss and not having him telling me he's proud but i know he still is. We have never met at an IGT because I've never been to one. I do go to support groups occassionally at St.Peter's Medical Center in New Brunswick. I got my surgery at St.Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston which is too far to drive to for support groups. Anyway hope everyone is doing well. Keep up the good work :)
My name is Linda. I had Lapband 09/07/2007. I lost 97 lbs so far. My hightest weight was 312 lbs. My goal is 150. I have tryed the gym but did not like that. I have a personal trainer that comes to my house twice a week. I also did the relay for life the weekend of 6/5 and the weekend of 6/11. My husband died last month and he had lung cancer and the doctor think he had liver cancer. He was my only family support.
I do go to support meetings and the IGT. Hope to see everyone there next week.

My name is Fran. I live in Edison. I had my band surgery 11/19/09 and have lost 60 lbs. I, too, am in search of the elusive Onederland!!! Getting close but it still seems out of reach. I attend the band support meetings at St. Peter's. I've been to one IGT and am planning on making the one in Union this month. My exercises of choice are walking and WII fit.
Hi. I'm Linda. I had my RNY two years and four months ago, and I've recently reached my goal of 140 lbs lost. (I was 280 day of surgery.) I've gone from a size 4x to a size 6.
I'm doing great, and I have no struggles to speak of with my health, my diet or my surgery. I feel great, and overall I'm very happy with my life now. I still am wondering what to be when I grow up (my oldest son is 19 and in college, and my baby is going to be a junior in high school in the fall.) In the past, I was in TV, was a writer, a business consultant, a florist, and the owner of a floral design school. All I know is that I don't want to be any of those things anymore.
My goal right now is to be more regular with my exercise, and to work my way up to running a half-marathon.
I don't do support groups too often, although I have found some great friends at the ones I do attend. I wish I could find one run by a nutritionist who has had the surgery, or at least one who knows what it really means to be fat, or to have been fat and then become thin.
That is why I love the IGT meetings. I feel like its the only time I'm around people *****ally "get it."
By the way Nancy, it is so YOU to start a great thread like this. I'm so proud of your success, and I really admire your energy, and for the gift you have for bringing folks together. Thank you for being you!

Hi, I'm Brendan,
i'm from North West, NJ out by Hackettstown. I had RNY surgery 10 months ago. August 10, 2009. My highest weight last June 2009 was 504. My surgery weight was 479. As of this morning i'm down 216 lbs since last June. I'm down 193 lbs since surgery. I work hard at getting my protien in every day. I work hard at getting in my liquids every day ( I need to by stock in Crystal Light lol). I do excersise every week. I do change it up a bit to keep it interesting. When i'm on the treadmill these days i'm typically doing 50 minutes. I was able to Coach my sons baseball team this year. I was out ALOT with that and getting tons of excersise. I have 38lbs to go to my first goal of 250 lbs. I have a feeling I'll want to loose more once I get there but a year ago sitting at 500lbs, 250 lbs sounded pretty reasonable LOL.
My family has been VERY supportive. My wife and two boys (11 and 6) have been my biggest fans and inspiration. OH has been my support group. I'm on most every day. Not so much the forumns but in the chat room. It certainly helps talking to people who really understand what your going through. All the support groups in NJ are just to far away from me and/or my work schedule interferes with. I've also seen the IGT's but again, they are always just to far away from me. Although Tom is starting a support group in Mount Olive, NJ. I really want to be involved in it.
This morning I had a protien shake. For lunch I had some tuna. I will probably have a 100 Calorie - Breakstone Cottage Cheese with Pinapple for a snack. For dinner not sure but i'm sure it will be something protien based.
I've heard some say they are not sure they had the right surgery. I don't have that feeling at all. This has certainly saved my life and it the eating style fits my life. My biggest fear is keeping it off. But... I try not to have that overwhelm me and take it one day at a time. It was certainly nice reading about you all and how your doing. I'ld love for this board to get more active.
Thanks
Brendan
