OT: Sunday NJ Trivia
NJ is home to the world's first fly-in, drive-in theater. Former Navy pilot Edward Brown, Jr. opened the combination facility for cars and small aircraft in Asbury Park on June 3rd, 1948. The theater could hold an impressive 500 cars and 25 planes. A second fly-in, drive-in was opened in Belmar in the 1950's.

I remember going to the Hackensack and Paramus drive in's in my PJ's with the family! When I finally got my license, a car filled with girlfriends drove to Paramus to see a showing of Star Wars during a rainstorm!!!! The lightning added a special touch! I think it closed down shortly after... sigh.... I've never made it to the Warwick one.... I'll have to go this summer! Mary
Funny thing about the Troy-Hills Drive-in .. I remember is well, especially when it was closing (or on it's last legs). They decided to run ADULT FILMS. Now right next Door was The Arlington Shopping Center which (at the time) housed: Bradlees, Foodtown, Channel among other "family" shops - NOT TO MENTION ALL THE HOMES that had a "clear shot" of the screen. This didn't last long, since the community complained loudly. But what a fun time us teenagers had watching this !!
Good Luck on your Journey !!
