Aetna Insurance

Does anyone know How long it takes for the supervised weight loss program with Aetna? Can my surgeon do the program? I have Aetna HMO

You can either do a 6 months supervised weight loss with your doctor or a 3 months surgery preperation program.  Centra State Medical Center Health Awareness center has a program you can break down into 3 months and that will satisfy aetna's requirement.  I'm sure other hospitals also offer the program.

Hi I have Aetna POS II, I had to have 3 weigh-ins which took a little less than 3 months.  I worked with my doctor and scheduled my surgery after the 2nd visit and had all my tests done a couple of days before my 3rd weigh in.  I received surgery approval from the insurance company less than 48 hours later.

I agree with Geoff.  It took just over four months to jump through the hoops - and less than 48 hours to get the approval.
