Hey gang,

 

One of the frequently asked questions is where to find a support group? I am trying to go over past postings, to come up with a list of support groups and when they meet. Eventually I would like to post a listing of all support groups through out our fine state - this way it would be convenient for everyone.

 

That’s why I need your help. Can you please tell me which support groups you know of, location, the day and/or time the classes are held, if they are open to “everyone" or to just patience’s of specific doctors, free or fee, County, contact information?

Gastric Band Surgery Support Group meet the third Wednesday of every month, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Weight Loss Surgery Support Group II - meet the fourth Wednesday of every month, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and is for patients who have had bariatric surgery more than one year ago.

Monmouth County has Centra-State in Freehold on the last Wednesday of each month, Lap Band at 6pm and RNY at 7pm.  It's in the Star-Tobias Ambulatory education center (where the pre-op nutrition classes are held).

Don;t forget beautiful Warren County, if anything exists!

LOL ! I so want to start a group in Sussex County, nothing exists up in our neck of the woods.. and I am not even that close to lopat..

(a) Sorry that the last "posting" didn't include all the Counties. I just fixed it.

(b) As for Sussex County - maybe we can start our own. Let me know what you folks think about it.

I really want to start one in Sussex county. I know there are a bunch of people up this direction that have had surgery plus we have the only real hospital in the area in Newton..

I have not had time to do the research yet since I have been building my website/blog that will launch soon. I wanted to launch it on my one year anniversary but I don't have my clearance from work to launch yet so that ship has sailed.. my one year was on the 11th.

After I get my web site launched (hopefully this week) and get some things ironed out at work I am going to have a conversation with the local hospital and see if they would let a support group use space. If they will then I will move forward with the research to see what needs to be done to start a support group.

I think our general area could use one, a bunch of people use Newton Memorial from the local PA area and our county in general plus I know of quite a few people from this area who have had WLS so I think the area could use the support.

I hope I can get it off the ground..
