May 19th...my new birthday!!!!
The Pre-Op class could be less than 3 hours – as long as there aren’t any “stupid" questions. … While I understand everyone has questions, and no question really is stupid, … in my pre-op class the same question was asked an answered over and over again.
This is NO exaggeration …. It happened at the time when the Nutritionist said…
Nutritionists “… and remember, after the operation you are not allowed to have any alcohol."
Patient number #1 – “does this mean beer?"
Nutritionists “… yes .. Beer contains alcohol – and is also carbonated – so that’s two no-no’s"
Patient number #2 – “does this mean wine? I like wine."
Nutritionists “…“… yes .. wine contains alcohol."
Patient number #3 – “does this include vodka?"
Nutritionists “…“… yes .. vodka contains alcohol."
Patient number #4 – “does this mean gin or other “white" types of drinks? Aren’t they suppose to be better than others drinks"
Nutritionists “…“… yes .. gin contains alcohol. So does others – so you need to stay away from them"
Patient number #5 – “how about Jack Daniels"
Nutritionists “…“… Jack Daniels contains alcohol. So you cannot have it"
Patient number #6 – “ok. What if I am at a wedding, and they want to toast with Champagne?
Nutritionists “…“… Champagne contains carbonating and ALCOHOL. Again the two no-no’s, so you can’t have it"
Patient number #7 – “are Margaritas ok?
Nutritionists “…“…Margaritas contain ALCOHOL"
Patient number #8 – “Can I have Bloody Mary’s. They have mostly vegetables in it?
Nutritionists “…“Virgin Mary’s yes – Because there is no Alcohol. Bloody Mary’s NO because of the ALCOHOL"
Now you may think I am lying. But I SWEAR on my parent’s SOULS this is all true. It went on for a total of 15 to 20 minutes. My cohort and I were about to blow our stacks because these people were so dense. I was about to say “if you aren’t smart enough to know what ALCOHOL means then you’re too dumb to have WLS".
