Constant Port Pain
I had my surgery on 11/25. At this point my weight loss has been incredibly slow. In the beginning, I was doing very well. The first 2 months is when I lost about 20 lbs. I have 5cc's in my band and can still eat anything. I do curb what I eat, but I'm still never full.
I am a stomach sleeper and I'm not sure if this is why my port constantly hurts, it feels like a pulled muscle. Also, when I press on it I can feel like bubbles or popping..strange..I'm curious if my port has flipped. I'm going back to get another fill on 3/23 and I desperately want to see whats wrong. But honestly, if I'm going to have to live with this port pain, I don't think its worth it. At this point I'm less than happy with my lap-band.
Has anyone had port pain about 3-4 months out..is this a healing process? Any ideas. Thanks.

Call your surgeon, it sounds like your port may have tilted or flipped (which is not a big deal). Six months after being banded I started getting an ache by my port, kind of like a pulled a muscle. When I went to see my doc a month later to get a fill, he couldn't access my port because it flipped. He was able to maneuver it back into place but he said it felt like a stitch or two had popped and may eventually need to be replaced.
If everything is ok with your band (and I'm sure it is) then you probably need another fill if you're always hungry. I also had to learn that feeling full now isn't like feeling full was before being banded. Once I hit my sweet spot, I would get full in my upper stomach/chest area. We're used to being full in our lower stomach, which is not going to happen now.
Good luck, let us know what your doc says.

Hi there,
Sorry it took so long to respond to you...He said my port didn't flip and everything is fine. He said its likely I pulled a muscle..and then while I was there, it made sense to me, since I did lift a 40lb bag of cat litter the week before. How are you feeling?
I'm still very uncomfortable at night, I can tell the port is there when I'm sleeping, I'm a stomach sleeper...so I'm always uncomfortable.

Hi I have port pain too after picking up my 40 pound dog 10 days after my surgery. I was just wondering if your port pain ever went away? If so did the doctors ever give you any advise to make it heal faster? How long did it take for your port pain to heal? I get sharp pinches in my port area and I was just wondering how long it will take for this to heal. Thanks!
