Fam,

How long did it take for your appetite to return post-op?  Trust me, I don't miss feeling hungry AT ALL!  But it's hard to remember to eat when I don't feel hungry.

(Did I just say "it's hard to remember to eat"?  Who would've ever thunk it!? )

Thanks!

For some people hunger never really returns for others it returns after a few months.  I have only been hungry on a few occasions since surgery.  I have to go a lot of hours before I get hungry.  You should get on a schedule where you eat at specific times.  It is interesting that we go from living to eat to eating to live.

I think really the right response would be Hunger should never return..
If you are getting hungry I think you aren't following a sensible plan..
I know for myself.. I don't think I ever get physically hungry unless I have gone all day without eating something and then watch out all my old habits break loose. Possibly hunger may occur when eating the wrong things too.. a learning experience we all go thru..
But seriously if you are feeding your stomach properly hunger should never be an issue.

Head hunger on the other hand or as I like to call it Food Remembrance... always happen.. see a pizza.. pass a burger king.. see the icecream truck.. you know.. your head is very powerfull those signals we have to learn how to control and so does everyone..

Lets hope hunger never returns.
Good Luck..

I'm almost 9 months out and am NEVER hungry.  That doesn't mean I don't  have cravings, because I do.  Snacking is a problem at times.  But hunger is non-existent.

Oddly enough, I find myself extremely hungry if I go for more than 15 minutes without sipping my water drink.  I'm good for about 20 minutes after a meal.  And I'm talking hunger pains in my chest here - this is not head hunger!  Speaking of which... getting hungry again.  Gotta go get another drink! (at least I'm not dehydrating).
