I'm going tomorrow morning for all my pre-op testing. Bloodwork, chest xray and EKG. I know, no big deal right? Yet, I'm nervous! I hate going to get tests done. Wish me luck and lots of good thoughts!

I am sure you will be fine!   I think I was more afraid of the pre-op testing than I was of the actual surgery.  Maybe because I was already approved for surgery and this was the last obstacle.  My PCP was awesome and he said "Don't worry, this is happening"!

It will be over before you know it, just keep thinking about the wonderful outcome, and this is just part of the journey.

Good luck!

Thanks for your responses and good thoughts. It was over quickly, lol. I was nervous after my chest xray, the tech says, "ok good luck", I was like what? What do you mean good luck? Do I need luck? Is something wrong? She looked at me like I was nuts! Lol

I need to go to the psychologist still. Then all of my pre-surgery requirements will be finished. I have an appt on Feb 17 and the doctor said as long as my insurance gives the approval within the right timeframe, surgery should be March or April. I was hoping for sooner myself, but what can I do? Waiting is part of the game I guess. Lol
What do you have left to do? Good luck to you too Denise!

Hi Shannon !

I'm from Toms River too !  I had my lap band surgery two and a half months ago.  I wish you luck, girl !

The tests are a breeze.  Are you going to NJ Diagnostic for your x-ray?  My daughter works there and the people who took x-rays, etc. are very kind.

Shannon, you are on your way to a whole new you !  Don't be nervous, skip to those tests because it is just a matter of time before you feel great and walk with confidence with your head held high.  You will be adding quality years to your life by taking these steps.  I'm so proud of you.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you should need to talk or if you have any questions at all.

I'll be thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way !

xoxo,

Cindy

I really think the worst testing is over. I'm fromLBI and am scheduled for my surgery on June 12th. I have been through all the testing except the Pulmanary function, scheduled for next Friday. Didn"t you ahve all these test already?? I have, plus I still need to get them done again right before the surgery. The Cardio guy wanted blood, The Pulmanary guy wanted a chest x-ray, the Endo guy wanted the endoscopy... I don"t mind jumping through all the hoops,I just can"t wait..Good luck to you on your journey..susan

I didn't have any of these tests for the the surgery. Of course, I've taken them in the past, but I always hate them, lol.
I feel good that it's over with. I haven't had to do any other tests yet, hopefully, I won't need them. Thanks for your well wishes and good luck to you too!

Wow.. for an RNY.. I have never heard of a doctor not requrying you to have all these test.
Are you self paying and not using insurance..because even the insurance company has made these required for patients..and I mean to be done during the surgery prep because a report from each was necessary..
Good Luck
