Hi...ok last week I posted about my headaches and not drinking enough etc...well I went back to see the Dr. yesterday for my followup, and to find out that I lost a pound. Disgusted? Yes! Depressed? Yes! Heartbroken? Yes!! What is going on? I am so confused and hurt that I can't seem to get it right. I have been doing what I am suppose to be doing. I feel like I am failing myself and everyone who believed in me and knew that I was doing good.
I feel some days I can't get motivated at all. Its too cold to go out walking. I need to get in gear here. After talking with the Dr yesterday, we decided that it would be best for me to go back to work starting Monday. Go back to the routine...I work in NY and I take the bus & train. Walking from the train station to the office twice a day its 4 long NYC blocks so that will help.
I want to prove to myself and everyone that I can do this. I want there to be a difference when I go back to the Dr on Jan. 5, 2009!!!! I can do it!!!

When was your surgery and what kind did you have? Try and drink your water and protien and I promise you will not fail. You are not the only one who has felt this way, you can do it. After my surgery I was scared because i thought i could eat too much, turns out I still lost. I almost never dump sometimes I wish i did. I have a sweet toothe. The first year was really rough for me, I was constantly thinking am i not losing enough? will i ever reach my goal, these are all normal feelings.
I also was dehydrated for 6 months after my surgery and I didn't even know. I still struggle to get my water in, but it is possible. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times and sip throughout the day.

hi

im sorry you are going thru a rough time here.  what did your doctor say about the weight loss?
did he give you any suggestions??

what are you eating or drinking at this stage, and are you following his food plan exactly?  this is so important in the early stages.

the other part is getting in your water, and i know how difficult that is in the beginning but work on increasing the amount you drink a little each day.  eventually you will get all the water in

stay in touch with us all, and maybe going back to work will give you the boost you need.  what kind of work do you do??  the city must be pretty this time of year.  i grew up in Queens, NY, but live in Jersey now

be safe and well, jacki

There are many things that can affect your weight loss.  First of all, the scale doesn't always tell the truth.  In the beginning ( don't know your surgery date) the body is stressed out and confused by whats going on and can hold on to your weight.  It is called starvation mode.  You may not have lost pounds, but you may have lost inches.  Please measure yourself.  It makes a difference.  You will have times that you will lose alot of weight for no apparent reason just as there will be times you stay the same or don't lose at all.  As long as you are doing the right things, eating right, drinking the water, getting in protein and exercise some, you are doing okay.  It is not a race to lose the pounds - the goal is to get healthier and if you are doing all those things, you are getting healthier and the weight will follow.  Don't get discouraged, stress can stop weight loss as well.  It will happen, just not overnight.  Sometimes you may lose just a pound and next week it could be 10 lbs.  Don't focus on the numbers on the scale, focus on your efforts and continue to do what you are suppose to.  It will happen - just be patient.  Good luck
