Todays Appt with New Surgeon, Dr. Goyal
I had my appointment today with N.J. Bariatrics and I saw Dr. Goyal and his team. It went well, a few new things were required of me. I need to attend a seminar and according to their findings through my insurance, I need to have 3 month supervised exercise program. Yet they indicated that I didn't necessarily need to "join a gym". So, I have no clue what that means, lol. If anyone experienced this, let me know!
Also, Dr. Goyal asked me to show him I'm serious about losing weight and asked me if I could lose a few pounds before surgery, as a measure of good faith. I have no problem with that, as I want to show him I am committed.
So, I begin anew, no surgery date yet, which is good, as I don't want my hopes up again. Thanks to all...

hi
glad your appt went well today. hopefully you are on your way again
maybe a supervised exercise program means a gym?? where u can show membership for 3 months? if he says your insurance requires it, then your insurance should be able to tell you what they mean by "supervised"
good luck with everything. you must feel better to be back on track again
be safe and well, jacki
Good point about the insurance, I'll give them a call and see what they say. The funny thing was, when I asked the patient coordinator if that means I should join a gym, she said, no not necessarily, it was very vague, lol.
I feel much better, now I have to get my bloodwork, chest xray and ekg done. So, I have a ways to go, but it's a start. Thanks Jacki!

I'm a patient of Dr. Goyal as well! I'll be having surgery (pending approval) on Dec 17th. It was a little vague with the exercise. They have some type of relationship with Ivy Rehab and suggested I do a few appointments with them. It was a little pointless. I already exercise at home and they basically had me sitting there for an hour lifting hand weights. I called Robin (coordinator) after the 2nd appt to explain how I felt and she said 2 appts was fine. She just needed something to show the insurance. Maybe give that a try? I'll be honest, I've found the office staff (well, Robin) to be a little hard to get in touch with and a little vague with the info. However, everyone has raved about him and I know he's very respected so I've tried to just focus on that. Good luck!!
