Protein - I'm sure this has been covered, but...
So far so good. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and stayed out of work that week - went back the following Monday. Was a bit sore (mostly at the port site) and did have a very minor problem with an infected stitch about a week and a half after surgery. In fact, Dr. Strom's partner insisted I come into the office on a Saturday at 4:30 just to be on the safe side - he couldn't have been nicer. And like I said, it was a minor issue - got it cleaned up and all is well.
I go back for my 2 week post op tomorrow (9/29).
So far I have lost 16lbs - I am basing that loss from the weight that I was on the actual day of surgery. I do find it hard to drink all my liquids. It's funny - I never did before, but when I find that I "have" to I can't - LOL!!
I am still on mushy/pureed foods - tonight I had dinner out and had a small side salad that I chewed to within an inch of it's life and 1/3 of a piece of grilled salmon and was full. Normally I would have scarfed everything down and had bread and pasta to boot!
Forunately I can eat the same things every day for a long time without getting tired of them so I have the same thing for bfast/morning snack/lunch and afternoon snack. It almost makes my life easier.
I have a question for people on the board about drinking. I am used to having a glass of wine with my dinner - and while I know that they said to eliminate alcohol, at the risk of sounding like and alcoholic, I still want my glass of wine at dinner. My feeling is that it is a liquid (LOL!) and good for my heart.
Any comments on drinking and the band?

Congrats on your weight loss..that's fantastic!
Did you meet with Marilyn, the nutritionist? She mentioned something regarding alcohol..basically that they'd rather you eat your calories than drink them..since alcohol has a lot of sugar in it..and also that you can't eat and drink at the same time anyway..so if you like wine with dinner, you can't have it together anyway, especially not during the healing process.
I'm not sure if everyone agrees with that, but that's what Marilyn said.
Keep up the good work, will be joining you soon.

Yes I have met with Marilyn and will see her again tonight and will bring it up. I don't want it to sound like i'm jonesing for a drink (LOL!) and I have given up my nightly ****tail. I am trying to be as compliant as possible but since i have few vices, I did enjoy having my nightly vodkar/tonic but no more for that!)
Plus I have to eat out alot for work/clients and again, I am trying to be as "normal" as possible.

I just got back from the doctors office (they called me to tell me that there was an earlier opening which worked better for me time wise) and am doing well. I am getting my first fill on 10/9 at 1pm. They do it at Mountainside (just for the first one) as they also do a radiological swallow test as well.
Stay with the soft foods. I can't wait for the fill - I find that while I have no problem eating my curtailed menu, I do not feel real "full" so I am anxious to have the band really start working for me.
Alcohol in moderation is okay - I guess like anything else, I will adapt this to my new diet/lifestyle.

I think that is what everyone says as far as not being filled, that they feel hungry or they aren't full...I hear it takes about 3 fills to feel really good restriction..hopefully on 10/9 things will change for you!
You must be stoked you can have your little glas of wine every now and then. Well keep up the good work and I can't wait to be right there with ya!
