Am I OK????
I am not having any food issues at all.... I can eat pretty much whatever I want as long as I chew it really good.
I am drinking a tremendous amount of fluids in a day and drink decaf iced tea without any problems...and I drink A LOT!!!!
I am down just shy of 30 lbs in 6 weeks...which I know is good weight loss, don't get me wrong....but what if I stop???? I'm soooo scared that maybe my pouch is really stretched out or something....because I have to pull myself away from the food most of the time....I eat my 4 ozs and walk away....but I am defnitely not full at all....
Any thoughts gang????
I have the same problem - "No problems!" It's actually a bit scary as you say because I kept wondering if it would really work. I did exactly what you are doing - eating the right amount and walking away. I never felt "full" until the first time I overate. Just be careful and keep going the way you are - you know how much I've lost.
It has been very hard for me lately because I can eat anything. So many temptations that some days I feel like I am back before surgery. I have eaten the wrong things and too much but I really just try to get right back on track. Remind myself where I was a year ago and I KNOW I don't want to be back there.
You are still early in the process so stick to measuring EVERYTHING until you are really able to know the right amount to eat.
You are doing great - Keep it up!!!

We are like weigh loss twins...we have been losing at the same pace since we had surgery.
I have been having the same issues. I eat my 4 ounces and I walk away but I know I could eat more. I know we did not have the same surgery, I had Lap Band and I have not had it filled yet. I don't know if it will change once I get filled...I am hoping it wil. I am losing about 2 punds a week but sometimes I gulp instead of sip...sometimes I do not chew as well as I should. I have to start paying more attention because once I get my first fill, I will no be able to do that anymore.
I think as long as you are eating your 4 ounces and not drinking a half hour before or after eating...you will be fine. My husband had RYN 5 years ago. You would have to be eating a large amount of food to stretch your pouch out. I think you are fine..
=)
I really don't know what to say, because my surgeon does this extra procedure when he does the surgery(RNY)he adds this band made out of some kind of mesh material that will only allow your stomach to stretch just so far. I can't even eat half my food yet. I did have to pay for this out of pocket. It wasn't that much money, from what I have heard there are not that many surgeons that add this band to the surgery, I was told that Dr. Capella does it in Hackensack. My surgeon is Dr. Ducheine. he is from East Orange. I suggest anyone who gets RYN to ask there surgeon about this extra band, it is not lapband, you do not need any fills, it just sits around the pouch(your stomach)for good. My surgeon told me that he has had more of a success rate with this extra band in the past 5 years. I feel good knowing that I have this added tool, because I think if I didn't I would be eating more than I should. It is scary. I pray you continue to have a healthy and successful journey.
wow.. I never heard fo Duchiene and he is in EO>
I knew Dr kamelgard used the mesh band but I had heard Cappella wasn't doing that procedure anymore.. I don't have the band and wish I had... Kamelgards's patients have had great sucesses... and I think that band makes all the difference. Good luck to you...
BTW.. Kamelgard not doing these surgeries anylonge.

BTW, how is your boyfriend doing? If he did have the added band and had his surgery a year before me, then he should be at least 2 years out now, is his weight maintaining? Is he gaining weight? What am actually asking is, is the extra band working? Can he eat like he used too? I was just wondering, so I can see what may happen to me. Let me know, am dieing to know what you have to say.
Hi Melissa,
It's actually my best friend (I just used BFF for short, sorry!) Her weight is maintaining, she eats very small amounts several times a day. Still has texture issues with some foods that won't pass through the Fobi pouch (i.e. always has to peel tomatoes). She lost over 300 lbs. Her husband had the same procedure 6 months after she did and he lost about 100, BUT he is not as compliant as she is. He went right back to his old junk food habits and has not lost as much as he could have. They were here visiting with me for about a month after I had my surgery, and he is a "Closet eater", sneaking up to his room to eat secretly so we would not see all the junk he was eating. But like she says, he is a grown man and old enough to worry about himself. She's actually having her plastics consult in November. Anyway, hope this helps. Jen
