LOOKIN INTO PLASTIC SURGERY

Hi everyone -
Well last night I had my 1st PS consult.....WOW....it seemed so surreal to be having it.
I loved the Dr. , he was great explaining and took a long time talking and showing me the procedures I wanted done.  I never felt rushed. I have to say i was exhausted when I got home - it was so much to mentally process and I only want to have my arms and chest done.
We agreed that I should have my arms and a breast lift w/ augmentation done at the same time. I could do them seperately, but I'm afraid if I have one done I won't go back if I have a bad experience.
the only thing that blew me out of the water was the price..... I knew it was expensive, but holy cow....25,000.00  is alot of $$  - esp, when I have 3 kids on their way to college in the next few years. My husband is real supportive and wants to me to get it done, to make me feel better about myself, but being the "mom" that I am, I don't know if i can justify it. Does that make sense to anyone.....For those of you who had PS - is that $$ amount in the same ballpark that you all spent? I live close to NYC - so I know that they charge more in this area, but I was just curious as to what other people paid.
I'm also going to make other appts, w/ other doctors to see what they have to say.
Has anyone used any of the  following doctors - Dr. Ganchi, Dr. Parker, Dr. Capella or Dr. Zubowski ??

I used Dr Joe Capella for all my plastics (done in stages) -- check out my profile for specifics, including prices -- and of course you're worth it!  You'd spend that for a car, and you're worth more and will last longer than a car!  That was my rationale and I'm sticking with it!  LOL

Good luck

Hi Nanette -
I checked your profile, you look great. Did you really only pay 8,100.00 for the arms and breasts. Was that including everything? Did your insurance pick up any? That seems so much less than what I was quoted, but my insurance will not cover anything..... and that price included dr, hospital, anstheit.....

The only thing my insurance picked up was the abdomniplasty portion of the lower body lift -- Dr Joe did not charge me any extra for expanding that to a LBL.  He also believes in staging the surgeries for safety reasons -- with the exception of the LBL which was done at Hackensack Hospital, all other surgeries were done in Dr Joe's office surgical center -- One night was spent in a surgical care facility after both the breast/arm and thigh/face surgergies -- transported by ambulance.  I believe those costs (minor) are also detailed in my profile.  Dr Joe charges a bit less for subsequent surgeries after you have had the first one with him, I believe.  Now all these surgeries were done in 2005 -- three years ago, so pricing may be a bit higher now!

I met with five different PS for consults before 'choosing" Dr Joe.  You should meet with several to compare compatibility, prices and techniques.

Good luck.

If you are willing to travel into NYC, make sure you have Dr. Matthew Schulman on your list of plastic surgeons.  He is great, and I think you will find that his prices are not as high as you would expect for NYC.

Lightgal - you and I had the same surgeon! I was also suprised that he was not super duper expensive. I saw Capella too and he was a little cheaper, but it was almost chaotic in his office. It was totally to opposite in Dr. Schulman's office. No regrets here.
