OT: Pancreatic Cancer Walk Sept 28 Paramus
Hi All,
A friend of mine who grew up in Bogota with me has pancreatic cancer. The more I learn about this disease, the scarier it is. I'm in a Walk to fund raise for research. It's in Paramus on Sept. 28th, in the AM. There's a one mile , 3 mile and 7 mile loop. (I'm attempting the 3 mile loop, but that's a stretch for me!)
If anyone wants to join me, go to www.lustgarten.org and click on the Paramus (Ron) walk, and click on Join. If you'd like to make a donation via the internet/credit card, do the same thing but click on Sponsor a walker, and type in Elaine's Prayer Warriors. Pick any team member who hasn't made their goal (many of them are teen agers) and donate.... $5 or $10 dollars would be great!!!!
If it's not in your ability to walk or donate at this time, Could you just say a few prayers to whomever you pray to that Elaine will be one of the rare ones that survive? She's married to a cop (one of the good ones) and has two teenage daughters, and just recently had her elderly parents move in with her.... There's never a good time to get a cancer diagnosis, but this year was really the icing on the cake! She's a California girl now.... and her friends are doing the LA walk too, so we're a bi-coastal team!!!!!
GO RESEARCH!!! Thanks for reading this far! Mary C

Hi Mary,
My brother was just diagnosed 6 weeks ago and just started chemo. It sucks. Hence my Avatar. I will look into this and maybe if my schedule allows, will walk with you. Keep the faith!

I totally agree with your avatar! and the more I try to read, the more I realize how underfunded the research programs are, compared to other diseases and even other types of cancer.....
I don't know how far you are from Paramus, but you are certainly welcome to join us! It's Sept 28th, registration starts at 8:30 and the walk kicks off at 10. I'm trying the 3 mile loop, so I may be there (quite) a while.... I'm not so good at distances.... but I'm willing to try!
