HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just informed that I cannot use my doctor for my surgery because he is out of network.  I am SO confused because my medical plan seems to be doing EVERYTHING they can to avoid paying for this surgery.  First he was okay - now he isn't.

So, does anyone know a surgeon in Hunterdon County that might be in the United Healthcare network?

Thanks so much - I am just seething!

Well the first question I would ask is if you have OON benefits.........I am using Dr Andrei and I have Oxford with OON benefits it is covered and  the Dr's office said they do not balance bill for that.  Did they agree to it and then deny it? Shannon at his office is pretty good with that stuff did you talk to her?

Hi Jennifer,
Yes, I spoke to Shannon...she is actually going to try again to see if there is something we can do.
According to my provider, they have OON benefits for almost everything EXCEPT WLS.  Nice, right?

That really stinks!! Fortunately I started a new job in April and when it was time to pick my insurance I specifically picked a plan that covered it and it was approved in less than 1 week of going to meet with the doctor. I have Oxford and they seem to have great benefits. Well let me know if there is anything I can help you with Jennifer

Check with Dr. Jean Baptiste's office if they take United.  I know they take Oxford.  He is an excellent surgeon.  It might be a hassle to come from Hunterdon (I grew up in Sergeantsville) but he is definitely worth the drive.

And I did all my pre-op testing at HMC because I keep my primary care doctor in Flemington.  Good luck with straightening this out.

My Primary is in Flemington too, and I live right next to Sergeantsville (Kingwood)...small world.  Thanks for the info - I will check it out.

Thanks so much.  Do you have to use those doctors to join the support group?  Sounds good!
