Got a date - Now the real work begins....

So my surgery date is 11/25/08..wooHoo!!!

But now all of these appointments...I made most of them for one day - brave huh???

Hopefully, I get approved quickly...

I'm scared for the GI..can anyone tell me about it..does it hurt?

I've never had a GI so I can't help you there but CONGRATS on your date!  It will be here in no time.

Yes, finally settled.  Can't wait to get started..Dani, did you have a GI? 

No, I didn't need one either.  The only thing I had to do was a stress test because there was an abnormality on my EKG...but it turned out to be nothing.  I also needed a chest x ray and then just blood work and a checkup from my PCP.

Congratulations on your date!!!  When you say GI are you talking about the test that the stomach doctor does?  If so you are put to sleep, so you don't feel a thing.  Don't worry you will be okay.  I pray that you have a healthy and successful journey.

 Hi Melissa C, Thanks for the well wishes...and yes, I mean the stomach doctor.. did you go first for a consultation and then they said you needed to do an the upper GI thingy...is it called an endoscopy?

I'm hoping maybe I will just go for the consult and they will tell me I don't need one..I mean I don't have acid reflux or ulcers, etc...I know you say it's easy..but it's just one more thing to worry about!

I don't know if your stomach doctor will want you to do the test, but in order for my stomach doctor to approve me for my surgery I had to take the test.  Yes, it is called an endoscopy. Like I said before they put you asleep so you don't feel anything.  Also I went for a consultation first with the stomach doctor, then they made me an appointment for the endoscopy, a couple of weeks later.  Don't worry, if you have to have it done, you will be fine.  I know that you have to do a lot in order to get approved for surgery, we all went through it.  Good-Luck!!!
