Looking for some  help researching Surgeon's in the New Jersey area.  I need to have a hernia repaired & a scar revision.

Also wouldnt mind hearing some personal experiences from people that've had either surgery because I only know 2 people who had hernia surgery and BOTH had complications.
I want to really take my time and select THE BEST surgeon to avoid complications because as some of you may know I had a REALLY bad time with my RNY and nearly died.

Hi Adam -- check out Dr Joe Capella in Ramsey, NJ -- He did all my plastics (after I interviewed five others), but is also a bariatric surgeon and has huge amounts of experience with WLS patients.

Thanks Nanette, I think that's the guy my buddy Chuck is telling me to go to as well.  If it's the Capella I'm thinking of, he's a plastic surgeon and his father is a bariatric surgeon?

That's the guy Adam -- His dad is Rafael, and he is Joe -- Joe started as a bariatric surgeon working with his father and then saw the need for specialized plastics on WLS patients, and studied and made that his speciality.  He is very good and I was very happy with him.  His prices are also very competitive and usually even a bit under the 'norm' - especially if you have multiple procedures with him.

Hope to see you Friday!
Hugs,
Nannette

My niece just had a Lower Body Lift with Dr. Capella at Hackensack Hospital,  (oops, sorry,  Hackensack University Medical Center).....  2 1/2 weeks ago.  So far, she's healing nicely, back at school, and has one open, draining area we're watching.  He doesn't use drains....  and uses a closing stitch he refers to as a "pie crust" stitch....   Ask again in a few weeks and I'll let you know what it lloks like healed...  it looked rolled and poked immediately after surgery, and is slowly flattening out as it heals....  (grin)   I still have a bunch to lose before I even dream of plastics , so she's my test case to see if I like what he did.... LOL.......   Like a twenty something would heal the same as a forty something!       I can keep dreaming!    Mary C

I had (2) hernia repairs with Dr. David Abramson in Englewood, as well as plastics procedures, including my open (vertical) scar revision.  I am very happy with what he did for me, and felt his prices were very competitive (I interviewed a total of 5 plastic surgeons, he was the last and, I felt, the most competent).  My procedures were in 2005 and 2006, and all is well!   julie

Finally got a chance to get on the computer - sorry for the late reply.
My surgeon is Dr. Mehta  Mehta Bariatric  732 745 0999   EXCELLENT
He did my RNY.  I have had many issues, none his doing.  Its just the way my body heals itself.  I had hernia repair, adhesions, bowel obstruction, another hernia (just for good measure) and Dr. Mehta handled them all.  I even consulted with him when it was thought that my appendix needed removal.  I wouldn't trust anyone else.  He's already seen my insides enough times.  Unfortunately, I just have one of those bodies that makes excess scar tissue.  I'm thinking about lipo - so you know who I'll call.............I'm sorry you have had such a rough go of it, but glad you are back on track.  Good luck.  Kathy
