Kingley Institute
So has anyone heard of Kingley Institute? Dr. Bertha told me to look into this for help with me fitness and behavior changes. The institute is a place that helps you with nutrition & weight loss, fitness, behavior change theraphy, sleep, and chronic disease management. Let me know if you know anything about them.

I have already emailed them for information about the different programs. They also take most insurances, if you insurance covers it.

I wanted to take a few moments to respond about the Kingley's Institute that I visited pre-op. Normally I do not give my negative opinions of such things however I was so disgusted with this particular facility I feel the need to share. I was required pre-op to have a consultation with a nutritionist and Kingsley was recommended by my PCP. My PCP did explain that he was not familiar with this place but knew my insurance covered this place.
To make a long story short, the nutritionist was cool had some helpful (information most of us already know) and for the most part supportive. However she did continuously revert to phrases such as "well if you feel GBS is the only solution for you" in a rather pathetic whiney tone. After my visit with her she informed me I needed to meet with the "exercise physiologist", personal trainer. Now this man will stay with me for the rest of my life due to his irrogant, condescending and NON-supportive attitude for patient's seeking GBS. He on more then one occasion flat out told me that GBS is not the solution for "people like me", without a program such as theirs it would not be successful and the weight would just be regained. After I continued to refuse to sign up for additional services (his services) he continued to belittle and insult the decision I had spent many years researching and deciding was right for me. Needless to say, I called my PCP immediately and was referred to a different team and pursued my nutritional requirements elsewhere. FYI... this was at the Woodbridge location. I could continue to go on but I think you get the picture. Feel free to message me if you would like further details.

I have been to the Kingley Institute and I agree with some of what you had to say. The folks over at Woodbridge are a bit pushy but I think thats more because they are trying to push a gym membership on you versus working with you on your weight loss goals. If you go to the one in Piscataway, I feel they are a bit more friendly. They too might try to in courage you to try traditional excersise and diet first but if they might also introduce other alternatives such as working with you before, during, and after your surgery to make sure your weight loss goals are reachable and permanent. I know Piscataway is a bit of a drive from Woodbridge (hint: avoid route 1), but if you have to return to the Kingley Institute, try the one in Piscatway.
WOW! thanks so much for the information. I am looking into the Livingtion location and hope they are better with GB people. I had my surgery a year ago and just looking for some place to help keep the weight off and for me to keep losing the weight.
I will let you know when I get more information or go to the place. Because if the people are like you say at this location too.....then I will never go back.
Thanks!
