time off of work
So how much time did the people on here who had RNY take off of work? I am pretty new to my job only 4 months and don't have alot of time off of work with pay and planning on going back after a few days and sitting at my desk............Did anyone else go back that quickly? Also I didn't tell anyone there what I was having done any advice on how to hide it from them if they start asking?
I hate to say this...I felt pretty crummy for two weeks. Maybe a week and a half. But hopefully others who had better experiences will post. On the up side By three weeks felt great.
I didn't tell anyone at work. No one has noticed or said anything. i have had lunch in the lunchroom and no one has commented on the small lunches I eat. Good luck with your surgery!

i took off three weeks, because i could with my job. i would say after two i would have been good to go back though.
it kinda depends on the type of work you do.
as to telling people, go with the flow there. maybe at some point you will want to share, and if not, and they start asking, just say that you are trying a new nutrition plan, people are always doing that.
i told everyone but thats the way i am.
good luck, hugs, jacki

I took the full 6 weeks that disability allows because I developed an infection and could not drive for a week. But even with the infection i could have been back after 3 weeks. I just took advantage of my time off. It was September and it was such nice weather. Good luck with your surgery. By the way you don't have to tell anyone, even your boss.
Hi Jen,
Do not go back too quickly. It is important that you heal and that you are ready before resuming your life.
Many patients push too hard at the start only to have a setback
This is major surgery, take it slower than you seem to be planning and you will do great
Good luck
Dr Mike
