Anyone use HUP for surgery?
I didn't use that group, and I haven't heard of them, but I am guessing the $200 is the fee that you are paying to have access/counseling from the Nutritionist that the group uses. With my surgeons, I can talk to the nut. any time that I need her, and I didn't have to pay a seperate fee for her, but I have heard of people that are charged-depends on the doctor I guess?
Good luck with everything.

Hi Heather,
I am actually using HUP (Dr. Williams). My surgery date is 9/23/08. They told me that the psychology fee and nut fee had to be paid directly by the patient because insurance companies don't reimburse for those services. However, a co-worker of mine submitted the bills to our insurance company and received full reimbursement for them after she had the surgery.
Good luck to you!

Hey Heather,
I had my surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital which is part of HUP. The $200.00 is for the nutrition classes. Each time you see the surgeon the Nut usually talks to you also. The former nut at PA hospot was terrific as he would always answer my e-mails even 2 years post op. He is now the coorinator at the hospital. It was the best $200.00 I ever spent. Depending on your insurance you might be able to submit the receipts and get some reimbursement. Also, check and see if your company will reimburse any of the fee.
Good luck to you. Le us know how you make out.
