Newbie

Hi everyone I was a little scared to come on this website..............I have been researching weightloss surgery for over 1 year........I finally got the nerve to go for a consult in early August of this year............I already have a surgery date and I have been approved  but I am scared..............Happy to finally do it but scared as to what to expect..............I didn't think things would fall into place so soon I thought I would be waiting at least  months or so...............trying to plan a wedding on top it is fun..............lol.......any support or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated............Jennifer

Tahnk you so much for the support it means a lot.............I am not really telling anyone so I need someone to bounce things off of..................Not really sure how I am going to get around it at work we they see me eating ( or should I say drinking) fluids all of the time.................But it is good to know there are people to talk to  when you are  scared and unsure..............I am so excited on the other hand to get it done and start my new life

I'm using Dr. Andrei too...but my insurance is making me do a supervised diet for 6 months first.  Where do you live?  I am in Hunterdon county.

HI.....I live in West Orange...Essex County ....where are you having your surgery done at when your insurance approves it?.............I have Oxford and they already approved it and didnt say I needed a special diet before..................My surgery is scheduled for 9/29/08 at St Barnabas...............I just got the courage to tell my mom last night..she is very supportive but lives out of state.almost made me cry  because she asked if I wanted her to come out here.....My Fiance and I agreed I wouldn't tell anyone but I had to tell her.

I'm going to have it at St. Barnabas also.  It's isn't until January though.  Oxford Insurance seems to be really good about this stuff...I have Untied Healthcare and they're pretty tough. 
I work in Hillside, not too far from you.  The commute just does me in every day, but I like my job.

Welcome!  I have to say the first two weeks after surgery are rough. But someone at the hospital told me every day gets better.  And they were right!  And by 3-4 weeks I felt great!  Now at 6 weeks I am down 38 pounds, eating healthier than i ever imagined. Don't be afraid!

Welcome to the NJ board,  you are definitely in the right place.  Don't be scared, everyone here will support, and help you in your time of need.  Having the surgery is the greatest decision I have ever made.  Remember everyone is different so you won't know if the surgery will be for you.  People have had complications from it, but that is a chance you will have to take, if you make the decision to have the surgery, I am not trying to scare you, I just want you to know that any surgery is a risk.  If you know within yourself that this is the only way you can lose the weight, and stay on track, then go for it!  I pray you have a healthy and successful journey!!!  Let us know how you are doing, and if you have any questions just ask away!
