I didn't use Dr O, I used his partner Dr Patel. Dr Patel and his staff are wonderful. Not sure if they are same for both drs. I don't think there is a psych in office could be wrong since I used my own. The nut is very good. They also hold support groups twice a month in same parking lot different building. Hope this helps.
Good Luck

Hi - algthough I didn't use Dr O (had my surgery too long ago), he is usually who I recommend to anyone in the South Jersey area looking for a bariatric surgeon.  There are many people in the OCWLS support group who have used him and his center has earned the Bariatric Center of Excellence designation which isn't easy to do!

You're in good hands --

HI Donna,

I have a friend who is looking into having the Lap Band Surgery.  She is going to a Seminar for Dr. O. on September 20th, it is a Saturday, I will be going with her for support.  We were told he is a great Surgeon.  She lives in South Jersey, so he is not that far away from her.  Maybe will see you at the Seminar let us know if you will be there.  Did you already make an appointment with him?, than pick the 20th so we can meet.

I had my lap band surgery done by Dr. O and he is g-r-e-a-t! I was seen by the psychiatrist in his office. They scheduled the appointment for me. The nutritionist you need to see is also in the same office. He's a no nonsense person but does take the time to answer any of your questions.

The only thing that kinda turned me off a bit was the fact that on the day of my surgery I saw him for a couple of seconds before surgery and the next day, when I was going to be released, he saw me for about 1 minute. He is a very busy man.

His office is in the AtlantiCare Life Center building and if you do decide to use him for your surgery, you do get a discount at the gym, which is very reasonable.

I hope my little input has helped you. You will be in good hands.

Hi-I had RNY June '03 by Dr. O at ACMC city division.  I was very pleased with him and his staff.  I received  fine care in the hospital and have no complaints.  There are support groups easily available and I run into people all the time who have had the surgery.  I used a psychologist they refered me to but got nothing out of it myself except the OK to proceed to surgery.  At the time I had the surgery a nutritionalist was not required and nutritional information was given at "boot camp" before surgery.  All in all I would say it was the best thing I've done to help me with my weight.  It is still a struggle but I am doing well which has never happened for any extended period of time with the other weight loss things I've tried like WW or radical diets.  Good luck to you.  Email me for any questions.  I'm glad to share info and experience-Donna

I cannot say enough great things about the man.. he makes sure you are READY for surgery, physically and meentally.  his support program is awesome, monthly support groups, nut appts well into your second year and he is so SWEET and CARING, yet professional.  I love him so much, i cry every time i see him, he SAVED my life, and takes none of the credit for it.  he insists he just provides the "tool" and we do all the work.  he is sooo great, professional, and was THE first  lap bypass and band surgeon in NJ.  you will be soooooooo happy you used him!

The only complaint is he won't do RNY if you had a history of smoking, even if you have stopped smoking for a year he still woun't do it
