I suggest you try posting this on the DS Message Board.  There are not many people here who have had DS.

I ate (drank) a lot of containers of the low sodium chicken broth from Stop and Shop.  I figured it was a little protein and liquids combined!   A few bites of jello  (not red! ),  some gingr ale....   Mostly I just sipped and sipped and sipped.  don't worry about the protein yet,  just concentrate on staying hydrated!   Where in Joisey are you?  I'm up in Bergen County.             Mary C

What is DS....sorry for the ignorance, but I'm new here.

The DS stands for Duodenal Switch, which is a restrictive and malabsorptive surgery.  The lap band and the sleeve (VSG) are restrictive surgeries in that they restrict the amount of food you can ingest.  The DS and the RNY (gastric bypass) are restrictive and malabsorptive, which means they restrict the food you can ingest, then restrict the amount absorbed by the body.

Come check out the DS board and see what you think.

Good luck to you!
