Hey There
My name is Timmy Ray, I used to live in New Jersey, and I now live in Maine, the great white north. Put it this way, this year we had literally 5 feet of snow till late April, and some snow till mid May (I have pictures should you need PROOF+ :P   )   grin.

So Whats new?

I am writing this as a shout out to all my friends in New Jersey, sometimes you get distracted and forget why you get up in the morning and why life is so precious.

I posted about protein bars, and got a couple or really awesome responses, and suddenly it hit me... "I shoulda Had a V-8".

No.. .. thats not it.  But seriously.. it struck me the number of really awesome people there are back in the Garden state, that have been supportive and helped me over the years when I was in New Jersey, and even after I hadda move here.

Life is short.  If you are thinking about having Bariatric Surgery... LEARN.  Go here. Go to other sites here on Obesity Help .. other forums I mean.  Go to topical forums.. ASK ASK ASK.  Learn all you can.  Get Information. Schedule a appointment with a Bariatric Surgeon.  Find out if the Surgery is for you.

Attend Support groups. There are a *BUNCH* here on the NJ board... (I am partial to Toms River and Lakewood... excellent peoples )  but go.. talk to people.  (they dont bite.. really).

Ask lots of questions. Email people on here that post a lot (they are going to be friendly.. you will see : )

I had the surgery in December 2004, I am currently coming back into the fold. I am still down about 250 pounds from surgery (which those that can add can tell its been a rough rough winter for me )  BUT...

BUT...

B..u..t... I would advocate this surgery for anyone who is looking for a tool to use on a serious plan of life change.   It works.. if you work it.

I used to be a pest here.. and post perhaps excessively.... and I have avoided posting and such for several reasons... partly hiding out I guess....partly cuz I MISS MY PEOPLE... .. but partly I guess because you forget.....

You forget Why.
Well.. I have membered.

I hope everyone is doing well this fine July evening... I would like anyone that is wanting to talk to someone ... that wants to know a view or information about the surgery...

who is now...lemme think...
about three and a half years out.. that was originally with a BMI of 80  (six foot two and 690 pounds) .... (ok 609 day of surgery.. they made me lose a bit first)... who is excited to be alive...

If you need to rap or talk... email me man : P

What Im saying is:

There IS LIFE after obesity.....

Obesity kills...
Obesity isolates
Obesity makes you feel worthless.... and keeps you from life.

I embrace life.. I STILL am a big guy... but with normal Blood pressure, I can walk again... I can drive a car, I can visit Disneyworld, I can do all the things I couldnt for twenty years.

Ok.. nuff said.

Hey to all... especially to my friends in Lakewood and Toms River Support Groups.
You want to find a rare bunch of friendly, loving accepting people... you should attend.

A special high to Micheal, Jack Martin, and AJ    hey fellers : )

Talk to you all Laterz.

God Bless

PS

And Keep the faith... if you are looking for support and assistance in getting this surgery...
I encourage you to reach out and make connections.. this board.. and some of the support groups I mentioned.... are excellent places to Start : )

Hey Timmy,

I saw your post on the Maine board a couple of days ago. I am fairly new to the site and the process, so I really don't remember you.

You struck a chord in my heart becasue I am a bi-state person. I live and work in New Jersey (northern) , but I own a restaurant in Maine so I am constantly driving up and down the New England coast.

I visited Millinocket last year. It is a beautiful area, but you're right, you get a lot of that white stuff! Beautiful lakes though. I spent a peaceful afternoon at a friends camp on the lake. You could get lost in all the nooks and crannies in the miles of lake.

I recently had RNY on June 30th, so I am just learning what I can and can't do. Its nice to hear from an old pro.

I also own The Windsor Diner in Windsor, Maine. Me and my husband run a small homestyle-type restaurant and all of the locals are like family. They have accepted me very well even though I am "from away". We have a lot of fun with it even if we don't make any money.  If you're ever in the area, stop by and say hello.

Great to have you back,
Denise

Hiya Denise : )
Thank you for your kind reply. I never have been around Maine much so far, but I will figure out where Windsor is.. perhaps a road trip down for lunch would be fun : )

I rode a canoe first time EVER last Summer near Medway, Maine....(considering I grew up in Oregon and camped and fished all my life.... it was an experience.).

give me a flat bottom plywood boat anytime... I dipped into the Penobscot River got um... *wet*.

As for your weight loss journey, be encouraged.. sounds like your doing *great : )

I highly recommend the basic 4..   Water, exercise, vitamins, and protein.  It worked for me, as long as you get enough vitamins daily to keep blood levels up... enough protein daily that your surgeon recommends... enough water to say hydrated... and gentle exercise starting 3x a week and building up... the weight will likely **fly** off you : )

As always consult your surgeon and his /her  aftercare program... some are really regimented with dieticians and support folks.. others are ah la carte.. **so to speak** but what I learned first year was to focus on those four things and it really really kept me healthy and losing readily.

Anyhow.. yeah its great to be back chatting with the NJ folks... I have missed everyone.. I was sort of hiding.. which was *um... silly*.. (oh well.. hindsight is 20- 200 : P

Very nice to meet you and I hope you have a great day. If you have any questions or anything that you are curious about.. concerning the surgery and first year..etc... just yodel?

God Bless,.. and take care : )
and please give my best regards to your husband... He sounds like a lucky guy : )))
