Anyone have surgery at St. Clares Dover?

Hello.  I am scheduled for surgery next week at St. Clares Dover.  Just wondering if anyone else had surgery there.  I have 3 children, 10, 8 and 4, and my 4 year old is a Type I diabetic.  Since my son requires insulin injections and needs his BG checked, my husband will need to stay with him while I am having surgery.  I am just wondering how the hospital deals with visitation from family members.  Do you know if they allow children in to see you?  Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I had surgery there last Wednesday!  The nurses were wonderful.
I sent my kids 3 and 7 to camp grandpa for 4 days.  Since your husband needs to be close to your kids for health reasons the nurses will make sure you are fine.
I would call the bariatric education person at the hospital and ask her about visitors
Pat Kanya
She comes by to see you in the hospital, so does the nut.
Best wishes!!!!

One thing...friday my last meal that was sent up had regular jello, applejuice undiluted and something else.  My meal card was clearly marked sugar free , clear liquid and the food service made a mistake.  So check your food!!!!

Hi there!  I had my surgery there in January with Dr. Abkin, your doc's partner.  Dr. Bertha actually discharged me.  Anyway, St. Claire's is a nice hospital, and I am very picky.  I did have some minor complaints, as I used to work in a hospital so I know how things are supposed to go.  All in all, I had several visitors at one time, and as long as you tell the kids in advance to be as quiet as they can as not to disturb your roomie, then I can't see why it would be a problem.

Lemme know if you need anything else!

Thank you both so much for your replies!  I am a little nervous about going in for surgery by myself and not having my husband there but I figured I would be more nervous leaving my son with someone and worrying about if they were checking his BG and giving him the right amount of insulin and if he was o.k.  I think I will be more at ease knowing my husband is with him.  I am glad to see that my children should be able to come and visit me.  I'm sure they will only last 10 minutes before they get antsy and want to leave.  Thanks again!!!!

I also had surgery there with Dr. Bertha and liked the hospital a lot more than I thought I would. I originally preferred Morristown but after having two emergency surgeries at Morristown I found the staff all around better at St. Clare's.  My kids are older but they were allowed to visit.  I really doubt you will have any problems with that.
