1 Year Surgiversary!!!!!!!!
Hi Everyone,
Well it has been a year today since I had my WL surgery. The journey has definitely had it's up's and down's. When I first had my surgery, I had a few complications, and I started to regret having the surgery. It took about 4 or 5 months before I actually started feeling better.
As each month passed I couldn't believe the weight I was losing. The one thing that is so amazing for me is that I have finally learned how to maintain my bad eating habits, something that I was never able to do. I used live to eat, now I eat to live!!!!! I realize I may look different, but I have not changed who I am inside. All my life I felt so bad about myself because of my weight, but I realize it doesn't matter anymore as long as I always be true to myself. This surgery has given me the strength to do things I thought I would never do.
I love this WLS journey, and I pray everyday that the journey continues to give me the life that I have always wanted. For anyone who is about to have surgery, you do have to change the way you used to eat!!! This surgery will help you, but it is up to you to make it work. I am just loving life right now, and I don't want this great feeling to ever go away!!! Thanks for all the support, that everyone has given me over the past year!!! I will be taking pictures this weekend, I will be adding them to my photo album next week, I can't wait to see myself how different I look in one year!!!
God Bless everyone who has already had the surgery, or about too. Thanks again!!!!

Melissa,
I am so glad that you seem in a better frame of mind than in the beginning. Congrats on your wonderful success and continuing success...
I was curious about the problems you had in the beginning...I have yet to talk to someone who has had multiple problems....I was curious if you wouldn't mind sharing.
Everyone here is so positive....and that is incredibly awesome....I need that....but I would like to talk to someone who at one point actually was regretting the surgery...
I am scheduled on August 11th and don't want to have fairy tale hopes of a perfect journey....
Thanks
Danielle

Hi Danielle,
As far as the complications I had, I had open RNY so my incision became infected and it took 8 weeks to heal, so I couldn't wear a bra, and in the summer time wearing a big sweat jacket was embarrassing. It was either the jacket or letting everyone see my chest without being able to wear a bra, so I chose the jacket. The other complication, which I will say side effect, because before I had the surgery, I never had a problem with my stomach, I could eat anything. Now after the surgery I have acid reflux, and I have to take medicine everyday for it. I found out that a lot of people get this after the surgery. Am not saying you will but it is a possibility. You have to make to weigh the pro's and con's, I now do not regret having the surgery, and I do feel much better. Anyway, Good-Luck to you on the 11th, I will be praying for you.
