DRIVING AFTER VENA CAVA FILTER
You will need someone to drive you home, NO EXCEPTIONS ALLOWED, I asked, lol. Twilight sleep is what they use and you are not allowed to drive for 12 to 24 hours afterwards. Of course, you feel just fine when you wake up but they still want to see the person who is driving you home.
Its an easy little surgery. I woke up and thought they hadn't done anything yet!

Hi!
I had a vena cava filter installed the day before my scheduled surgery (didn't happen yet though) and was told there were no restrictions. It's been a week and no problems. Mine went in at my groin and there was only a very small cut. I don't think it was even an inch long. I got what they called "twilight" - not totally knocked out. I would think that the driving question would be more from the anesthesia but I'm neither a dr. or a nurse so don't use my word as bible. Call and ask the dr. to be sure.
It sounded a bit scary to me (I've never had any type of hospitalization with the exception of my babies) but it really was very smooth. Good Luck
